Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle practice working with the body to release deep tension and pain utilizing simple holding techniques that manipulate the joints in the cranium, parts of the pelvis, the spine, other joints in the body, and fascial tissue.

CST is similar to Reiki in many ways. Patients feel supported and rejuvenated after both types of treatments. The difference between the two practices is Reiki utilizes sending universal energy to the patient to promote healing and relaxation. CST works with the patient’s own energy to release blockages in energy flow in the body to support healing.

Conditions that are commonly treated with CST include:
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Concussions
  • Constipation
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Insomnia
  • Sinus infections
  • Neck pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ
  • Whiplash
  • Trauma recovery, physical or emotional
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Complications in pregnancy

Treatments are done fully clothed and with the patient laying on their back supported on a massage table. Sessions typically last an hour and work can start at the head, feet, sacrum, spine, or limbs depending on the condition being treated. Patients report feeling different sensations during the treatment, including:
  • Deep relaxation or sleeping
  • Seeing colors
  • Sensing pulsations
  • Feeling “pins and needles”, heat or cold sensations

Like Reiki, CST works nicely with other therapeutic modalities.  There are no conflicts with other treatments and it will enhance any health care you are currently utilizing.  Schedule your appointment for a complete craniosacral session, or as an add-on to your appointment.
